Turnover Tragedy: Scrappy game goes Vanderbilt’s way
by Griffin H.
How many Tennessee highlights did you see? How many Vanderbilt highlights? That’s what I thought. That’s how the game went Tuesday night. It was scrappy and sloppy. The final score: Vanderbilt 65 – Tennessee 47. Yemmi Makanjuola got ejected, and Jarnell Stokes got hit over the head on a flagrant foul. There was a double-technical, too.
Jeronne Maymon led the Vols with 15 points, and hauled in 8 boards. He was the only Vol in double digits.
Two bright spots:
- Bright Orange Blazer: Head coach Cuonzo Martin resurrected the Bruce Pearl/Ray Mears tradition wearing the orange blazer against Vanderbilt.
- Jarnell Stokes is still a bright spot, he seems to bring a lot more energy to the team and the fans.
The Vols next play Auburn Saturday at 6:00 pm, before a Tuesday meeting with Kentucky at Rupp Arena.
